Material Required:
1. Cardboard Base: Keep at least one big cardboard sheet ready for preparing the base for this activity.
2. Cardboard Sheets: Keep at least one cardboard sheet ready for preparing the turtle floatable and neon yellow stickers for sticking on top of the cardboard base.
3. Duster: To clear the erasable markings and writing made by the whiteboard markers on top of the packing tape covering the cardboard base
4. Scissors: To cut out a turtle floatable and stickers from the card-paper sheet
5. Whiteboard Markers: To mark letters on the cardboard base, color the cardboard base, draw a turtle floatable on the card-paper sheet, and write on top of the cardboard base.
6. Packing Tape: To stick it to the cardboard base completely.
7. Popsicle Stick: To move the turtle floatable around the cardboard baseboard.
The Procedure for Preparing:
1. Prepare the cardboard base –
Keep a cardboard sheet ready for use as a cardboard base for this game activity.
2. Prepare the floatable turtle and top part of the cardboard base –
Use the whiteboard marker to write the words “Connect the letter ” on the top part of the cardboard base before covering it with the packaging tape. Cut out the card-paper parts into the shape of a turtle floatable with a hole in the center and eighteen stickers (color them in neon yellow with the help of a whiteboard marker of that color).
3. Encourage your children to participate –
Ask your children to write different letters, but repeat the primary target letter of their choice in most parts of the cardboard base. Ask your children to use the Popsicle stick to move around the turtle floatable to the primary target letter that appears everywhere on the cardboard base.
4. Erase and rewrite new letters every time –
Use the whiteboard markers to write new letters from the English alphabet randomly on top of the packing tape covering. Also, make sure to write the primary target letter that you intend to see repeated in some parts of the cardboard base on the top portion of the cardboard base, where the words “Connect the letter ” (here, your children will have to fill in the primary target letter of their choice within the box that has been drawn next to the words) appear.
5. Review and Repeat –
Review the activity each time your children complete it and make them repeat it until they have mastered it. The more your kids participate in the activity, the better their letter recognition and matching skills will be.
Guide your children to take the turtle floatable to all those neon yellow stickers that have the primary target letter of the English alphabet that they have written on top of the cardboard base where the words “Connect the letter ” (here, your children will have to fill in the primary target letter of their choice within the box that has been drawn next to the words) appear. The more often they repeat this activity, the better advantage they will have in the future over their peers.
