What better way to learn the concepts related to the five senses of the body than to match the pictures related to them to the pictures of the five sense organs? Simple and innovative, this activity can help children learn things related to the five senses of the body easily:

Suitable For:

This activity is designed for children between three and five years of age, as they can learn how to match the images of the five senses of the human body with the ideas and concepts related to the same.

What You’ll Learn:

1. Understanding The World – When children learn what each human sense organ can do and what each one perceives, their understanding of how the world works will improve.

2. Motor Skills – When kids engage in this activity, their fine motor skills tend to develop faster since there is enough physical activity and effort for them to indulge in.

3. Cognitive Development – The moment children engage in this activity, they will be better able to recognize the sense organs of the human body and what their functions are. Thus, their cognitive development and growth also take place.

4. Improved Memory and Retention – Upon completing this activity several times in a row, children will be able to better retain the various concepts related to the 5 senses of the human body. Thus, their memory will also automatically improve.

Material Required:

1. Cardboard Base: Keep at least one big cardboard sheet ready for preparing the base for this activity.

2. Cardboard Sheet: Keep at least one extra cardboard sheet (the second one) ready for pasting the printed human body part and other stickers onto each cardboard space reserved for each one of them from the second cardboard sheet.

3. Stickers: To paste the 5 senses of the human body related stickers to the cardboard bits prepared from the third cardboard sheet.

4. Cutter: To cut out cavities on the second cardboard sheet that is to be placed on top of the cardboard base, 20 bits or cutouts from the second cardboard sheet itself, and 20 printed stickers from the sheet of printables.

5. Whiteboard Markers: To mark the borders of the words written on the top part of the cardboard base, viz., the 5 senses.

The Procedure for Preparing:

1. Prepare the cardboard base –

Keep a cardboard sheet ready for use as a cardboard base for this game activity. Just make sure to create 20 concave cavities with adequate spaces between each of them using the second cardboard sheet.

2. Prepare the top portion of the cardboard base –

Use the second cardboard sheet and scissors to cut out concave cavities from it, which are to be placed on top of the first cardboard sheet that serves as a base for this activity.

3. Keep the sticker-pasted cardboard cutouts ready –

Paste the twenty printable stickers related to the five senses and sense organs of the body onto the spaces on the second cardboard sheet reserved for each of the twenty stickers that you have pasted them onto, and keep them ready for this activity.

4. Cut out the concave cavities –

After pasting the stickers onto their respective spaces, use the cutter to cut them out along with the cardboard onto which they have been stuck

5. Encourage your children to participate –

Ask your children to place the cardboard cutouts (bits) bearing the various stickers related to this activity inside the cavities on the cardboard base. Make them match the objects related to the human senses against the correct human sense organs. Ask them to spell out the various human senses and words related to the same.

6. Review and Repeat –

Review the activity each time your children complete it and make them repeat it until they have mastered it. Each time your children participate in the activity, they will be able to comprehend the concepts and ideas related to the five sense organs of human beings better.

Encourage your children to associate the five sense organs of the human body with the pictures related to the same time and again till they have mastered the activity. Innovative in nature, this activity can help your kids learn what the five sense organs of the human body do, and what they work with, better than through learning by rote.
